It’s really not that good, you probably shouldn’t waste your time watching it.

Despite what the anti’s say, more people I know are getting into guns for the first time. I had the pleasure of taking a conceal carry class with my mom a few months ago. She is a new gun owner. We started with the Smith & Wesson 3913 Lady Smith for her. It’s a single stack, SA/DA 9mm.
The upside to the Smith is that the recoil is smooth and not overpowering. The gun is well balanced and not too heavy. Coupled with the adequate stopping power of the 9mm round, it would seem like a good choice.
Here’s where it gets tricky. My mom has Rheumatoid arthritis. She is very functional but lacks strength in her hands and her trigger finger. Double action is very hard for her, and the Smith lacks a spurred hammer so that first shot is extremely difficult for her. Also, the amount of strength required to work the slide is beyond what she is able to manage comfortably.
I’ve thought about a revolver but there are drawbacks. Double action would remain difficult, or she would have to draw back the hammer for each shot which would also be cumbersome. The recoil will be more stout on a revolver, even a .38, unless we get her a heavy one.
I’ve been considering dropping caliber to the .22lr. I’ve shot and enjoyed the Walther P22, and remember the action being easy to manipulate, recoil was extremely mild and the gun itself being a lot of fun to shoot.
So I ask for your opinions. What do you guys (and girls) think? What is the perfect gun for my crippled madre?
I’m not sure what to think about this yet really. Part of me thinks wanna-be (that sounds familiar- wanna-be), the other part kind of wants to fuck her…
Shoot an AR-15 & Glock 17 with The Urban Survival Chick! from Jorge Bueno on Vimeo.
It only took me about 9 months to finish this video, so part 2 should be ready sometime in 2015, assuming we’re all still alive in 2015.
Don’t judge me.
The Luchadora bought me a Bushmaster AR15 for Valentine’s day (just happened to be around that day). It came straight from Bushmaster with the Magpul MOE package, in FDE. The fucking thing was sexy to begin with, but the FDE was starting to look a bit feminine so I swapped it out to manly OD Green.
Besides removing the worthless vertical fore grip, all that changed was the color… well I upgraded from the MOE Grip to the MOE+ Grip, soon I’ll get the MAID Grip for it and add the Magpul Angled Fore Grip.
Here are pics of the process.

If the design of the pistol don’t grab your attention, go shoot one. As a target pistol, this gun will pop bullseyes for days, as long as you do your part. As a hunting pistol for small game, I think it’s great, especially since it has a very nice top weaver rail to mount your scope or red dot. As a training pistol or a gun to get new shooters into the sport, it can’t be beat.
I have been shooting this pistol in a 6″ barrel for a few years now and absolutely love it. The magazines are made out of metal, and the thumb assist is very easy on the hands when loading the mags. The gun is more accurate than I will ever be. I can keep 1-1/2″ groups at 25YDS with open sights. Takedown is a breeze, using a a little thumbscrew in the lower receiver. Which reminds me, You can use any upper length on this gun, including a carbine kit!

Expect to find the pistol for around $300.00 in it’s various configurations, and the carbine kit is sold separately for around 250.00.
