Trained always trumps untrained, but training is not that common in this day and age, so imagine the edge that it gives you, even If that training is nothing more than learning a few basic strikes and cuts and practicing them regularly. I'm going to carry a knife anyway I might as well learn to use it in all facets.
My last thought on this is very arguable but my personal experience and my rather personal involvement with the criminal element hastaught me that predators seek the weak carrying a weapon even, if concealed , increases confidense and that conveys strength.
