Got my Lee kit set up tonight, finally. deprimed and resized 100 9mm cases.

got a couple of questions

do i need to lube every case?

is there any use for spent primers?

I have no idea when i'll be able to get some primers and powder, a tumbler, a digital scale, a manual, and calipers. so for now its just depriming. i've got about 700 cases to do, so that should keep me busy for at least a little while.

thanks man. i was playing with scale the other day but nowhere on the box or instructions did it say it measured in grains so I didn't buy it. but the web ad does say grains, so now i'm gonna go buy it.

what is the purpose of lubing up the cases before depriming them? this is just 9mm by the way, not rifle.

Spent primers are trash and do contain traces of lead so be careful.

When you are loading straight wall pistol brass and using a carbide die, there is NO need for lube, just spit on it.





























Kidding about the spit. Lube is for anal sex and rifle brass.

The lube is for sizing. The depriming just happens at the same time on most dies. (Unless you are using a universal decapping die to just deprime)

Rifle rounds are difficult to size without lube because of the neck and chances are high that you will get a piece of brass stuck in your die. Lube makes it more pleasant for all parties involved. (loader, brass, die)

Most modern pistol dies are carbide. If you have Lee, they are.

If someone had ones that were not, lube would be a good idea. The chances of getting a stuck case would be higher without.

If you have sized 100 without any sticking, it's probably carbide. The carbide is an insert. look at the bottom of the die and look for a ring (the insert) that is a different color than the steel. It usually has a blue tint to it

well I was using lube for the first like 60 or so, then I started using it on every 4th or 5th case and by the end I wasnt lubing any of them.

So if they aren't carbide dies is there any thing to worry about with 9mm cases besides the possibility that one could get stuck? it doesn't damage the case does it?

I use some lube for ever five of ten. You can tell a difference in the amount of pressure that you have to put on the press. Even with carbide dies. Primers are trash. Luckly they are small. My table has a shelf I feed them to. Haven't had to worry about cleaning it up yet.

so i started last night on making a reloading bench that is portable. something that i can bring in and set in front of the tv so I can hang out with my wife while I reload.

basically its gonna be a bench that is 24 inches tall, 30 inches long and 18 inches deep (giggity). it's going to have the table top and also a shelf underneath. I got about halfway through it last night. i made all my cuts and stuff and got the two ends built. now I just basically need to assemble the rest of it. cost to me so far is $13 for some bolts and stuff. the rest is stuff I just had on hand. but i burned through most of my good 2x4's so now I need to go raid another construction site.

Dude, take pics of the progress of the build, I may want to do that as well..

i thought about that last night, but then i didn't do it. because I am dumb. I'll take pictures when I start back up again with the project.
