Or a controllable temper, apparently.
York, PA – A 62-year-old man driving a Rolls-Royce held a handgun to the head of another man in an elementary school parking lot Sunday in a road-rage incident, according to Northern York County Regional Police.
William Ray Gore, of the 100 block of Chestnut Grove Road, Carroll Township, is facing charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, possession of weapon on school property and harassment, according to a news release.
Gore was arraigned before District Judge Gerald Shoemaker at Central Booking on Sunday night and was released on his own recognizance, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said the victim, a 23-year-old man, and his 22-year-old female passenger told them they encountered Gore after they passed his vehicle in Carroll Township.
Just after noon Sunday, the two were traveling behind Gore’s 1979 Rolls-Royce when it stopped in the middle of the road. The man, who believed the car had broken down, passed the Rolls-Royce and continued on the road.
Not long afterward, the man and woman noticed the car was tailgating them as they traveled through Dillsburg, police said.
The man eventually pulled into the parking lot of South Mountain Elementary School on South Mountain Road in Franklin Township, and the Rolls-Royce — with Gore inside — followed them, police said.
A verbal argument erupted between the man and Gore, which culminated with Gore placing the muzzle of a handgun against the man’s temple, police said.
The man reacted by pushing the gun and Gore’s hand away; Gore then punched the man in the face, police said. The victim yelled for his passenger to call 911, and Gore got into his vehicle and drove directly at the man as he was trying to get into his vehicle, police said.
The man followed Gore as he drove back into Dillsburg and parked his car on South Baltimore Street, where police later arrested him without incident, police said.
Inside Gore’s Rolls-Royce, police found a loaded .380-caliber Beretta handgun, police said.
