Archives For Colorado

Rhonda Fields, the Colorado representative who introduced a bill in the Colorado legislature to limit magazine capacity, apparently has a colorful past.

According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Rhonda Fields, or should I say Carolyn Combs, has a an arrest for Larceny and for Shoplifting.

The facts speak for themselves.

Feel free to let your voice be heard : rhonda.fields.house@state.co.us

While you’re at it, maybe let Hickenlooper know how you feel as well. You can also leave a comment on his FB page.

He apologized, after receiving a virtual beating on his Facebook page.

I encourage you to spread the word. Salazar is also the one who introduced language into HB 13-1224 to keep Magpul’s money in Colorado, just not their magazines.

I also encourage you to let Representative Salazar know how you feel on his Facebook page. While you’re at it, visit Governor Hickenlooper’s page and voice your opposition of all the new gun legislation currently working its way through our state legislature.

So in case you haven’t heard, Colorado is in the middle of a fight over our 2nd Amendment rights. Currently we are facing universal background checks, the end of campus carry, a fee for all background checks, and a limit on magazine size to 15 rounds.

Because of that last issue, popular magazine and AR parts manufacturer Magpul has threatened to leave the state if the bill passes. I applaud them for their commitment to the Constitution, and I support their decision to leave. Principles are important. Especially right now.

Over the last 72 hours since I have become aware of Magpul’s position, I have been working as hard as I can to raise awareness about what Colorado is facing. And I am using Magpul’s situation to highlight it, seeing as Magpul is probably the most well known manufacturer of AR magazines. It’s working, almost. People are aware now. Facebook is flooded with people commenting about it and directly to Magpul on their Facebook page.

I’m going to try to get through this without swearing in the hopes that those of you with narrow minds who can’t handle a swear word will be able to hear me.

Here’s the problem. Almost everyone who is voicing their support for Magpul’s position is missing the point. This fight in Colorado is not over, and we need support. Magpul does not want to leave. They like it here in Colorado. They picked this state because of it’s reputation for respecting freedom, including it’s firearm laws. Coloradan’s do not want them to leave. We love them here. We love their product, their jobs, their tax revenue and their support of local industry.

But everyone who hears about what is going on is saying, “We’d love to have you come to *fill in the blank state*.” Now I get it. Now I understand the frustration from gun owners in California and New York. They feel abandoned.

Friends, the answer is not to welcome a company like Magpul to your state when their convictions force them to leave their own. The answer is to fight the politicians tooth and nail so that companies like Magpul don’t need to leave in the first place.

Colorado is not a liberal state. We are a state that values freedom. We are a state that honors individual liberty. We are a gun loving state. We are an intelligent state. The people of Colorado are not demanding gun control. These bills are being railroaded through our state government despite the loud, vehement, constant and passionate resistance of it’s citizens. Colorado citizens are fighting this legislation and we are fighting hard. GFE has organized two rallies on the state capitol building. We are making phone calls, writing letters, attending hearings, speaking directly to the politicians, supporting companies like Magpul, getting on TV, getting into local newspapers, giving away free magazines, attending the House votes. We are doing everything we can.

But what are our pro gun friends outside of the state doing? Writing us off. I am shaking my head in anger in frustration when I read Facebook comments like these:

This is not how we win. This is not how we take the fight to the enemy. This is not how we preserve our rights. This, my friends, is how we lose.

If you would have told me 6 months ago that we would be facing this legislation in Colorado, I would not have believed you. I would have laughed in your face. People in states like Wyoming, Texas, Nebraska, Tennessee will laugh in your face now if you tell them that in the near future, they will be in the line of fire. This is how it happens, one state at a time.

The powers at work here are not native to this state. There is influence coming from outside our square borders. MAIG has hired a lobbying firm to push these laws through our legislature. Joe Biden personally called some Democrats in the Colorado House on Friday, and I’m sure they weren’t talking about hunting with shotguns.

I’m pleading with you, do not give up the fight here in Colorado just because it isn’t your state. We need your help and support. This is our hour of need. Make your words more than just empty rhetoric and actually do something to stand up for all of our rights. Just because a state faces these kinds of attacks doesn’t mean the people of that state are pussies who don’t care. Pick up the phone, get on Facebook, get on Twitter, contact representatives, spread the word, bring attention to these issues. If you’re not willing to fight now, I doubt your resolve to fight when the battle comes to your state.

United we stand.

GunsForEveryone is not sponsoring this event, but we encourage all who can attend to do so. Your voice needs to be heard. What matters most at these rallies is numbers. Please stand up for your rights. This isn’t just rhetoric, it is time to act!

Denver’s Day of Resistance

Saturday, February 23, 2013 – 11:00am until 1:00pm

To take a stand for our 2nd Amendment! It is not about hunting or home defense but a matter of national security! We must take a stand and let the Government know that we support and defend the Constitution of the United States

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

As Colorado state legislators debate HB 13-1224 – a bill that would ban magazines over 15 rounds – an issue arose around Magpul and its base of operations here in Colorado.

Magpul has vowed to leave the state if a magazine restriction is passed in any form.

To appease Magpul, and presumably to keep it’s reported 600 jobs and $85 million in taxable revenue in the state, Representative Joe Salazar announced an amendment to HB 13-1224, L.0.14, that would specifically exempt Magpul from this legislation in as far as they would still be welcome to manufacture and sell these black high capacity ammunition clip death machines to civilians, just not to Coloradans.

When House Republicans pointed out the obvious and blatant hypocrisy of this amendment, House Democrat Rhonda Fields insisted that the amendment was intended to allow Magpul to continue to sell these magazines to law enforcement and to the military because “the military protects the company…Country” (check the record, her slip of the tongue was real and darkly accurate).

Never mind that while she was saying this, a copy of the amendment was projected on the wall for all to see and plainly listed that Magpul could manufacture their magazines and sell their magazines to anyone who was legal to buy including civilians, outside of Colorado of course.

So Magpul, Colorado wants your money, but not your product. GunsForEveryone respects your position. We hate to see you leave the state, but stand behind your decision to do so if this travesty passes, which it very may well.

UPDATE: HB 13-1224 passed an initial voice vote on the House floor on Friday afternoon. It will now get a formal vote on Monday, February 18th.

Please use the email list below to write every rep and senator to let them know that this bill is not only unconstitutional, it is also a poorly written bill that makes Colorado look foolish.

You can copy and paste this list right into your recipient line.

Now if we could only get rid of the permit process, and be a constitutional carry state.

DENVER, Mar 20, 2012 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) — Multicard, a leading supplier of credential solutions, identity management and system integration services and a business unit of Identive Group, Inc. announced today that it has developed and implemented a standardized "concealed carry" handgun permit for Colorado’s county sheriffs’ association. For this latest secure identification project for public safety organizations, Multicard has designed and produced a secure, pre-printed identification card to be used statewide.

Multicard was awarded the contract by the County Sheriffs of Colorado Association, an organization that advocates for the Office of the Sheriff across the state. "Carrying a concealed weapon" (CCW) permits are issued through the local sheriff’s office in each of Colorado’s 64 counties. While the application process is the same statewide, prior to this project there was no unified standard for the permit’s design or production. Steve Benitez, Vice President of Sales for Multicard explained, "Without a state standard, it was difficult for law enforcement to verify a valid permit if issued from other counties. This also left room for forgery and fraud. Our goal was to develop and implement a secure statewide standard for the permit so that all sheriffs’ offices will be issuing the same document. The permit design needed to address previously established requirements including the permit holder’s photograph and other identifying information, as well as the signature of the sheriff issuing the permit."

The county sheriffs’ organization contracted with Multicard to develop the permit design, securely produce the pre-printed card templates, and consult on implementation. A design template incorporating all required information and additional security features was created and pre-printed on standard CR80 size PVC card stock, which is similar to a credit card in size and thickness. The pre-printed card stock was then distributed to the counties for issuance. Additionally Multicard is supplying the fully compatible ID systems needed to print the final permit, which include a configured production software module and printer.

"The CCW permit project was an important initiative and Multicard has fulfilled our expectations for a standard, easily recognizable credential statewide. We are very pleased with the results and with the speed and professionalism of Multicard’s service in designing and implementing this solution for the State of Colorado. Tamper-proof security features make it virtually impossible to recreate the permit and law enforcement can be assured that a CCW permit is state-approved and legal," said Gary Cure, Assistant Director, County Sheriffs of Colorado.

House Bill 1205, sponsored by Rep. Chris Holbert, R-Parker, sailed through the House Judiciary Committee on an 8-3 vote, despite opposition from gun-control groups.

Fucking awesome!!

FYI: The KDVR report states that this bill would “allow gun owners to bypass background checks,” NOT TRUE! Background checks are still necessary to purchase weapons.

Denver, CO – On Thursday, February 24 at 1:30pm (MST) Colorado’s House Judiciary Committee will decide the fate of HB-1205. The bill would make concealed handgun permits optional, and allow law abiding citizens to carry concealed without a permit. This bill is fucking awesome in our eyes!

The bill would not eliminate the permit process, simply make it optional. The bill would not change any existing laws either, like I said before you anti-gun fucktard, it simply gives law abiding citizens the option to obtain a concealed carry permit or not.
