Archives For Training

Call me paranoid if you like. I will retort with disturbing facts that make their jaws drop faster than a Kardashian on her knees in front of a tv executive.

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis Police say you shouldn’t be frightened if you see Army vehicles in the city. The U.S. Army is conducting training in St. Louis city neighborhoods during the next week.

There are dozens of army trucks, humvees and armed vehicles on a parking lot along Goodfellow.

They are there every day at the US Army Reserve Center. But St. Louis police say that some army vehicles may be driving through neighborhoods for the next week.

It is part of army training that will be going on until June 28th.
FOX 2 has made several calls to army offices in St. Louis and Washington, D.C. to get more information about the training, and why it is being held here.

Phone calls have not been returned. However, people who live and work in the area think the army training is a good idea.

The army is starting training in the sixth police district on Thursday. Vehicles like the one pictured in this article will be roving the streets.

It strikes me as a little odd that while the military has literally millions of acres and playgrounds like this to practice their urban tactics in, why they need to come to a real neighborhood and desensitize the public to the sight of troops rolling through your hood.

Real Men Of Genius

Let’s give the man a round of applause…..almost nobody ever actually catches this shit on camera.

Not that this wasn’t an accident waiting to happen or anything.

I hope this guy keeps shooting videos, maybe next time he’ll accidentally shoot his balls off.

Chicago has probably the strictest gun laws in the country, partly because everyone is afraid of getting shot by roving gangs, and partly because the politicians that run that town are corrupt assholes (and they know it). Obviously the laws are working very well.

It’s odd then to hear that a hard line liberal like Rahm Emanuel is trying to get ordinances passed to allow gun ranges to open within the city.

Chicago – Chicago is under fire for its gun laws.

This time, it’s all about gun ranges. The city has none because they’re all banned. Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s planned proposal for a new ordinance could ease concerns.

Mayor Emanuel plans to introduce an ordinance allowing gun ranges within city limits.

According to Don Mastrianni, the owner of Illinois Gun Works in Elmwood Park, “They’re doing it to make money, let’s face it, that’s common sense and he sees Chicago as a big market so right now that market has to go to the suburbs.”

Tio Hardiman, Executive Director of Cease Fire Chicago said, “Cease Fire does not necessarily support what Mayor Rahm Emanuel is doing as far as bringing gun ranges into Chicago but Rahm Emanuel is following the law. Mayor Daley did his best to keep the gun ban in effect here in Chicago.”

But it was overturned by the Supreme Court.

Now, Chicago is being sued in federal court for its current ban of gun ranges. The ban forces city residents to suburban gun ranges, like Don Mastrianni’s, to complete the mandatory training to receive a Chicago gun permit.

The mayor’s proposed ordinance would reportedly limit gun ranges to manufacturing-zoned areas.

The subject sparks debate on both sides.

Hardiman’s Cease Fire Chicago has worked online and on the streets for more than a decade to get guns out of Chicago neighborhoods.

“It’s going to make our work a little harder because people are going to start looking at it like saying guns are ok, they have a gun range here now and it’s ok to just learn how to shoot and that’s what we’re fighting against every day of the week,” said Hardiman.

According to Mastrianni, “If the city is going to have the CFP process I would think that they need to ensure that everybody is actually participating and cooperating with it. There are plenty of gun shops that will sell guns to people without their Chicago Firearm Permit.”

Mayor Emanuel plans to introduce the ordinance next week and it would only allow indoor gun ranges.

Side note, this Hardiman dude is obviously mentally ill if he thinks there is something wrong with people actually learning how to SAFELY use the firearms they are legally able to buy.

Anyways, this is a weird move for Rahm. I’ll be watching the shenanigans with skeptical eye.

Trick Shot Glock

I don’t think you need to be a professional to try this. But I do think you gotta be pretty damn good to actually pull it off.

So you’re tired of shooting at paper, beer cans, basketballs, emo kids, or even watermellons. No problem, there are other fun targets available. Thanks to a decade of fear mongering, we all love to shoot the universal boogie man. And Zombies have been popular lately. The most recent advance in target evolution up to this point has been Tannerite. Immensly fun, insanely dangerous and bordering on illegal.

Things just got even better. How about a life size zombie target? Not good enough for your discriminating tastes? How about a zombie target that FUCKING BLEEDS!

I’d like to introduce you to the toy that will make you the most popular person on the range, guaranteed. It’s a mixture of paint, silicone, and tiger’s blood. At $90 it’s a little pricey, but isn’t your fun worth it? From Zombie Industries comes Zombie Tactical Targets. I’m not real sure what is tactical about a dummy filled with paint, but I don’t really care either.

Can I get an “Amen” brothers and sisters? They have a whole section of their website devoted videos of their customers exacting apocalyptic vengeance on these brain fiends.

Apparently these targets are too awesome for the Crossroads gun show. You know you have a winning product when it’s so offensive that even a bunch of gun nuts don’t want anything to do with you.

Quoted from an email sent by Crossroads President Robert Templeton:

…The Zombie target products, with their emphasis on death and blood, etc. represent an aspect of violence which we will not tolerate in our shows. It is inconsistent with the basic ethos with which we have governed the Crossroads shows for over 35 years. We have never tolerated products or services which are offensive to the general public and in particular to products for presentation in the Crossroads shows…

Bravo Zombie Industries……Bravo.

Do yourself a favor, get a few of these, a few thousand rounds of ammo and your two closest friends together for a blood bath. It’ll make you a happier, more well adjusted person.

So yesterday I filled your skulls with knowledge about some new and exciting options for .22 conversions and platforms of your favorite firearms. Today I’m going to double up and give you a second round of head smashing information.

First up it looks like Taurus is getting into the conversion game by announcing via Gun Talk Radio that they will be debuting .22 conversions on some of their popular pistol platforms. The Taurus 822 has been on the market for about a year now, debuting at the 2010 SHOT show. However my sketchy internet research doesn’t really show that its been popular so far. This is the only place that I found any real details on it. It offers a 10 round mag and accessory rail, much like the Walther P22.

Thrilling

Next up, Chiappa announced at the NRA show this year they will be releasing the M9-22, a Beretta 92 copy. Again, a 10 round mag. No accessory rail, but if you are a Beretta fan, you probably don’t care too much. The really sexy thing about this gun is the sub $400 price. MSRP is $369. There is also a “tactical” version that comes with a fake suppressor and a threaded barrel.

Sexy wood.

Another option for you gun freaks out there is a Sig conversion kit for the P226. There is a great write up on GunsForSale.com so I won’t bore you with the details. But I will give you a place where you can buy one.

I literally have nothing to say here.

And finally, a long gun. Legacy Sports is selling an M1 carbine in .22 caliber. Its a synthetic stock, so you don’t get that real wood feel. But its still a classic design with a lot of fans. And with an MSRP of about $330, you can easily justify the purchase to your wife or cat.

So there you have it ladies, lots of options at pretty good prices (except for that fucking $200 Kel Tec conversion).

One word: Faggots-

-Wait, I meant “Training”.

.25 acp is for faggots.

With the NRA convention in Pittsburg this week, there seem to be a slew of new guns….well, maybe I should say “old” guns. Well maybe not “old” guns, but……ah fuck it. Look, a bunch of established manufacturer’s are offering new models of their popular platforms in .22 caliber. The benefit to this is that you get to practice with a full sized weapon that looks, feels and operates just like your carry weapon, only instead of 20 to 40 cents per round, its more like 2 to 4 cents per round.

Some of these guns have been on the market for a little while, but as I was cruising the interwebs I started to notice them in bunches. So I’m going to catalogue some of the coolest ones here.

First up, the popular platform that seems to be poised to take the place of the AR/M4 style weapon is the FN SCAR battle rifle. This rifle is slowly becoming more popular as it continues to gain market share among heavy hitting rifle enthusiasts. ISSC Austria has introduced the MSR Mk22 Rifle. It’s a full sized copy available in .22, for a very reasonable price as well, coming in at about $570.

Be the baddest motherfucker on the line with this FN SCAR copy

Next is the hugely popular Kel Tec PF9, the pocket pistol that doesn’t make you bitch out to .380 in order to actually put it in your pocket. TwistedIndustries is now offering a .22 conversion kit for this fine little weapon. The downside is the price, coming in at $199 which is more than 60% of the original price of the gun itself. However, if you really plan on getting serious with practice, you could easily spend that much on 9mm ammo within a couple of months.

Small enough to ram up someone's ass

Another exciting addition to the .22lr family is the Smith and Wesson M&P22. Based on the full sized M&P9, this .22 gives you a full sized training weapon from a solid and trusted manufacturer. This weapon will probably be a serious competitor to the Walther P22. And with a 12 round magazine, it gives you more trigger time than the Walther’s 10 round mag. Price point is about $420, not unreasonable if the weapon is as solid as the rest of the M&P line.

Gangsta

And finally to round out this catalogue is the new Sig Sauer 1911 .22. There are other 1911 style .22′s, but really none with brands that carry the reputation of a Sig. And one of the huge bonuses of this new model is a threaded barrel, ready for some deadly assassin fun. The .22 Sig is a great addition to your arsenal and for once, you can actually afford one.

Now you can blast your Sig all day long

I got turned on to this site the other day. It’s not a flashy site, opting for the 90′s era onelongcontinuouswebagewithnobreaks format. But what it lacks in style it makes up with solid firearms content, specifically useable tactical information. It covers shotgun tactics very well, including my favorite, NOT RELYING ON THE SOUND OF A RACKING SLIDE TO SCARE AWAY BADGUYS. This is the real world, and in the real world, real solid equipment, tactics and training are required to meet the challenges that you very possibly could face with your weapons.

I found the section of AK magazines especially helpful, just as I was getting ready to make a purchase of AK mags. The first line of this section grabs your attention like a punch to the nuts

There are many options for AK magazines these days. Every company that makes them makes big promises about producing never-failing, ever-lasting magazines for your AK. Guess what? Most of those companies are full of shit.

Now, not all of us are SWAT members in training, or security contractors in Iraq. Most of us probably won’t be trying to figure out what level of body armor is practical in CQB. However, many gun owners at this time in our history are concerned that our current way of life is possibly not going to survive too much longer. Every time we turn around it seems another government is collapsing, or another storm is getting ready to pound the human race into the apocolypse. The idea that one will have to use his weapons to defend himself or survive in a new world of unrest is not outside the realm of possibility. Resources that help us understand our weapons and tactics are always useful, as long as you don’t take it too far…..
