Glock Sides With Gun Control: A Betrayal of the Second Amendment
This week, letters surfaced showing that Glock, Inc. is actively supporting state-level gun control legislation targeting so-called “machinegun conversion devices” (MCDs), sometimes referred to as “auto sears” or “Glock switches.” In a letter dated August 19, 2025, addressed to Representative David Hardin of Oklahoma, Glock urged state lawmakers to criminalize the manufacture, sale, possession, and use of these devices — going far beyond federal law.
Glock’s Letter to Lawmakers
In the letter, Glock explicitly called on Oklahoma to “join twenty-seven other states” that already criminalize MCDs under state statutes. Glock positioned itself as a champion of public safety, stressing that it does not condone or support illegal modifications, while also outlining the company’s cooperation with the ATF, Customs, and Homeland Security to target individuals and websites selling or promoting MCDs.
Glock went further, offering its resources to lawmakers in drafting and pushing these restrictions. The company framed this as a continuation of its decades-long commitment to “safety, reliability, and responsibility.”
A Slap in the Face to Gun Owners
For millions of Americans who trust Glock as a firearm manufacturer, this is nothing short of a betrayal of the Second Amendment. Supporting more state-level restrictions is not the role of a company whose business relies on the very constitutional right now under attack.
The Second Amendment is not about corporate image management, appeasing regulators, or securing government contracts. It is about the right of the people to keep and bear arms — without compromise, without carve-outs, and without corporations lobbying to limit that right in the name of “safety.”
When Glock advocates for more laws, it joins the same tired chorus of gun control activists who wrongly believe that restricting law-abiding citizens will reduce crime. The criminal misuse of firearms and accessories is already prohibited under federal law. Adding another layer of state statutes will only punish gun owners, not criminals.

At Guns For Everyone National, we believe Glock’s actions represent a dangerous precedent. Corporations should not be lobbying for more restrictions on constitutional rights. Instead, they should be standing firm with the American people against government overreach.
We condemn Glock’s decision to insert itself into the political process in favor of new gun control laws. This move aligns Glock with anti-Second Amendment forces and undermines the trust of gun owners who have supported the company for decades.
GFEN is awaiting more information and an official response from Glock, but we will continue to stand with freedom, not corporations who betray it.
